New RaySafe X2 Solo Speeds X-ray Quality Assurance Measurements

PRESS RELEASE - English

RaySafe X2 Solo

BILLDAL, SWEDEN - 20.11.2017– RaySafe, the global leader of X-ray quality assurance solutions, introduces the RaySafe X2 Solo product line featuring sensors that are ready for measurement without special settings. Based on the same technology as the multimodality RaySafe X2, the X2 Solo offers the same user-friendliness and performance to meet all quality assurance or service measurement needs for specific X-ray modalities.

RaySafe X2 Solo is available in two models: X2 Solo R/F for all radiography and fluoroscopy measurements and X2 Solo DENT, tailor-made for dental X-ray applications including a new holder for panoramic.

RaySafe X2 Solo speeds measurements by eliminating unnecessary steps like positioning the sensor, choosing a setting or interpreting results. The sensors are orientation independent so technicians simply place the sensor in the X-ray beam and turn on the instrument. The rest is automatic — no menus or special settings needed.

The X2 Solo features:

  • Large touch screen display for simple operation and a comprehensive overview of all measured parameters.
  • Full waveforms directly in the base unit for quick analysis of measurements.
  • No special settings to handle different types of X-ray machines — simply connect and measure.
  • Stacked sensors for easy positioning and minimum radiological footprint.
  • Wide dynamic range — no special modes for high-sensitivity measurements.
  • Built-in memory — up to 10,000 measurements with waveforms can be stored in the base unit.

The X2 Solo touch screen interface allows users to view data in a comprehensive yet flexible way. The home screen displays every available parameter from the sensor. To zoom in on any parameter, just tap it for a larger view. Use a quick swipe to display waveforms and pinch to zoom into details. Navigation is made simple by using common menu, home and back keys.

All exposures are saved in the base unit, and during a session, users can swipe to quickly go back to previous exposures for reference or comparisons. A full session of measurements can be uploaded to the complimentary X2 View software for additional data analysis and reporting.

Visit www.raysafe.com to find more information, request a demo or quote, and learn more about the RaySafe X2 Solo.

Unfors RaySafe unveils a new Survey sensor for the RaySafe X2

PRESS RELEASE

Unfors RaySafe, a Fluke Biomedical company, unveils a new Survey sensor for the RaySafe X2

EVERETT, Wash. - 28.04.2015 – Unfors RaySafe, the global leader of X-ray quality assurance solutions, released a new radiation Survey sensor aimed at expanding the RaySafe X2 X-ray measurement system.

The RaySafe X2 Survey sensor is the easiest and fastest solution for precise survey measurements in the X-ray energy range. It is the latest addition to the continually expanding RaySafe X2 X-ray measurement system, and adds the ability to perform leakage and scatter measurements in diagnostic X-ray applications.

"Our customers will be pleased to find the simple design they know from the other RaySafe X2 sensors, coupled with unprecedented accuracy and sensitivity,” explained Magnus Kristofferson, CEO of Unfors RaySafe. “We’re proud to expand the quality assurance sensor portfolio."

Unlike a pressurized ion-chamber, the RaySafe X2 Survey sensor is silicon-based, making it possible to ship without any special considerations or arrangements. The Survey sensor also has two trigger modes: manual and automatic. These modes allow the sensor to capture low dose-rate measurements in an X-ray machine’s primary beam. Another unique feature is its ability to switch energy response between Air Kerma (Gy or R) and Ambient Dose Equivalent (Sv).

The RaySafe X2 sensors are specifically designed to minimize the need for user interaction. Other sensors in the RaySafe X2 Measurement System include: R/F, MAM, CT and Light.

Unfors RaySafe signs exclusive agreement with Philips on Dose Management Solution

PRESS RELEASE

Unfors RaySafe signs exclusive agreement with Philips on Dose Management Solution

Everett, Washington/Billdal, Sweden -November 30, 2014

Unfors RaySafe, acquired by Fluke Biomedical in February 2014, has signed an exclusive agreement with Philips to license out the Patient Dose Management System RaySafe S1. The RaySafe S1 is a cloud based patient dose tracking system launched in 2013 that helps healthcare institutions lower patient dose, improve process quality and increase productivity in imaging workflow while reducing costs.

In an effort to accelerate market reach and better support healthcare institutions to avoid unnecessary radiation RaySafe has searched for a strong partner. Philips is launching groundbreaking initiatives to provide solutions that lower dose and create a safer environment for patients as well as medical staff.

Each year approximately 3.6 billion x-ray examinations are performed worldwide, leading to earlier and more accurate diagnosis of medical diseases. However, considerable concern has been voiced regarding the stochastic and even deterministic impact on both patients and medical staff. It is critical to ensuring the proper performance of x-ray equipment and of keeping the dose to medical staff and patients as low as reasonably achievable.

“We are committed to providing innovative products and offerings to help avoid unnecessary risks. Moreover, we believe that only a holistic approach to radiation safety can effectively reduce unnecessary radiation exposure to patients and medical staff. As a consequence of this agreement Unfors RaySafe will discontinue to market and sell the RaySafe S1 solution,” cites Magnus Kristoferson, CEO of Unfors RaySafe. “We will continue to develop innovative and ease of use solutions to provide a safer healthcare and within Radiology, specifically strengthen our focus on quality assurance solutions and real time dosimetry.”

“This focus on mutually beneficial relationships is at the core of our approach to growth. We envision our product portfolio and our partnerships growing to answer market demand with innovative state of the art solutions,” cites Eric Conley, GM of Fluke Biomedical.

“Our mission, is to together improve the quality of global health – one measurement at a time,” Conley explained. “Commitment to our customers, to the health community and patients everywhere, runs deep. We deliver on that, by providing the best and most reliable quality assurance solutions to make medical equipment safer to use.”

Come visit Fluke Biomedical and Unfors RaySafe together, in Booth #1718 at the Radiological Society of North America Annual Meeting (RSNA), running November 30th through December 5th in Chicago, Ill. Our visit us online to learn more about our innovative products and solutions offerings.

Unfors RaySafe unveils its new dosimeter system for quality assurance in
diagnostic X-ray: RaySafe X2 Prestige offers impressive ease-of-use

  • Intuitive interface and effortless measurements of X-ray
  • Sensors for R/F, Mammo, CT and Light measurements
  • Suitable for all standard imaging procedures in diagnostic X-ray

Billdal, November 05th, 2013 Unfors RaySafe (previously Unfors Instruments) international market leader in measuring instruments for the quality assurance of X-ray equipment has launched RaySafe X2 Prestige The RaySafe X2 Prestige is particularly impressive thanks to its user-friendliness. No manual menu settings are required, making it extremely easy to take measurements.

The measuring device consists of a base unit and external sensors for radiography, fluoroscopy, computed tomography and mammography measurements as well as monitor tests. An additional mAs sensor can be integrated into the base unit. The sensors capture all relevant parameters with just one measurement, providing users with the information they require about dose, dose rate, kVp, HVL, total filtration, exposure time, pulse, pulse rate, dose/frame, mA, mAs and the correspondent waveforms on the touchscreen. The stacked sensor technology also prevents the heel effects on the measurements. The touchscreen can display up to twelve parameters at the same time and delivers parameter-specific graphical analyses by simply scrolling through. Despite intuitive operation, the system is highly precise, can save up to 10,000 measurements in the base unit and display the relevant waveforms for kV and dose rates. Various series of measurements are thus made available for the purposes of reference and comparison. With the accompanying X2 View software, additional tools are available for conducting computer analyses. An Excel interface also offers an easy-to-use reporting option. Field service engineers and physicists save valuable time with the RaySafe X2 Prestige, and X-ray machine downtime resulting from tests is kept to an absolute minimum.

“With RaySafe X2 Prestige, we have for the first time developed a system that is highly flexible with capacity for growth – both in terms of the quantitative requirements of the user and the qualitative development of sensors and additional services,” explains Mats Alm, Vice President Equipment at Unfors RaySafe. “We have a clear roadmap for service programs and hardware support that will make the RaySafe X2 Prestige a long-term, forward-looking solution for X-ray room safety.”

The RaySafe X2 Prestige builds on the RaySafe X2 measuring device, which is equipped with only one R/F sensor and was unveiled last year. It is now available in the Prestige version with R/F, MAM, CT and light sensors.

Unfors RaySafe takes diagnostic X-ray measurements to the next level

Introducing the touch screen based RaySafe X2

PRESS RELEASE

  • Quality assurance for radiographic and fluoroscopic (R/F) machines
  • A single exposure is all it takes to capture all key measuring parameters
  • Orientation independent sensor

Ulm/Billdal, 28 May 2013. Unfors RaySafe (formerly Unfors Instruments), the leading international supplier of measurement solutions for quality assurance of X-ray equipment, has launched its new RaySafe X2 measuring device, which for the first time combines the highest levels of accuracy with the intuitive operation of a touch screen. The device does not require any complex menu settings - simply connect the sensor to the base unit and start the measurement; no need to select ranges or modes. While the orientation independent sensor captures all relevant measuring parameters with a single exposure, the user-friendly slide & touch operation offers straightforward access to all required information such as dose, dose rate, kVp, HVL, total filtration, exposure time, pulses including the corresponding waveforms.

The RaySafe X2 is comprised of a base unit, an external sensor for R/F measurements and a built-in mA sensor. When using both sensors, the device will display 12 parameters simultaneously. A simple swipe is all it takes to display parameter-specific waveforms. The X2 R/F sensor, with its advanced stacked sensor technology, prevents the influences of heel effects on the measurements. A groundbreaking concept in sensor design and circuitry means that the RaySafe X2 provides dose rate sensitivity from 1 nGy/s for pulsed fluoroscopy and 50 nGy/s for continuous fluoroscopy. As all exposures are saved in the base unit, measurement data remains available for reference and comparison purposes. The included X2 View software offers a variety of additional analyses and provides an Excel interface for simplified reporting.

“Our objective in developing the RaySafe X2 was to take quality assurance in diagnostic X-ray environments to the next level. The combination of an intuitive user interface and high-performance sensor technology not only simplifies the maintenance and functional checking of x-ray equipment but also reduces the likelihood of operator errors,” explains Mats Alm, Vice President Diagnostic X-ray at Unfors RaySafe. The RaySafe X2 saves service engineers and state inspectors valuable time while at the same minimising the inspection-related downtime of the x-ray system.

RaySafe X2 has been available as a stand-alone solution since January 2013.

RaySafe i2 for personal dosimetry now available in Japan

PRESS RELEASE ENGLISH  PRESS RELEASE JAPANESE

Gothenburg / Yokohama, 1st of March 2013

RaySafe i2 for personal dosimetry now available in Japan

Unfors RaySafe: worldwide lack of awareness about unnecessary radiation

According to Unfors RaySafe, medical staff in hospitals and clinics around the world is not yet sensitized enough to the risks of unnecessary radiation. The company is a leading supplier of radiation measurement solutions and will present its innovation “RaySafe i2” in Japan during the ITEM exhibition in Yokohama, April 12-14. RaySafe i2 is an active dosimeter especially for interventional radiology that gives real time insight into radiation exposure. With the help of the dosimetry system, medical staff can immediately adjust their behavioral routines and avoid unnecessary radiation exposure in their workplaces. “In the U.S., recent information campaigns have had a large impact raising awareness and motivation to optimize dose among patients. There remains a need for more training and education to give doctors and nurses the knowledge and confidence to work safely in a radiation environment”, explains Bart Leclou, Vice President Business Area “Personal Dosimetry” at Unfors RaySafe. RaySafe i2 has been available in several European countries and in North America since the beginning of 2012.

“RaySafe i2 has already attracted a lot of interest in Europe and the US”, says Bart Leclou. “Real time measurement and analysis are the most important arguments for medical staff.” The personal dosimeters are easy to handle, they are maintenance free and can simply be attached to the work clothes. The collected data is sent wireless to the “real time display” that is placed in the examination room, so that all staff members can see their current exposure. Colored bar charts give an overview of individual dose, making it easy to allocate data to single users. The integrated software not only analyses but also gives access to time stamped dose data. As a result, hospital staff can change their behavior immediately in order to minimize their radiation exposure. All data is also available to hospital management for further analysis.

Studies presented during the RSNA and ECR last year have shown that staff dose can be reduced significantly by using such measuring systems. They are already an integral part at renowned hospitals like the Charité in Berlin and Erlangen University Hospital in Germany. Introducing the RaySafe i2 across the Asian markets is part of further raising the awareness of unnecessary radiation exposure.

According to Bart Leclou, the overall awareness of unnecessary radiation is significantly higher in Europe and North America than in the rest of the world. This is due to recent campaigns like the initiative ‘Image Gently/Image Wisely’ in the USA by the American College of Radiology and Radiological Society of North America drawing attention to the matter of patient dose. “Due to the growing knowledge among patients, the necessity of certain x-ray examinations is questioned more frequently.” But hospital staff still has to pay more attention to keeping their personal dose within the limits, says the Unfors RaySafe manager. “The lead apron only covers some parts of the body while others – no less important – are still exposed to the harmful rays.”

The RaySafe i2 basic package comes with a real time display, four personal dosimeters and a dose viewer software.

Unfors RaySafe launches new solution to lower patient dose

PRESS RELEASE

Billdal/Hopkinton, 25th November 2012

Unfors RaySafe launches new solution to lower patient dose

The only company worldwide to provide comprehensive solutions to measure, monitor and manage X-ray radiation dose.

Unfors RaySafe will be announcing its extended product portfolio for the X-ray room at the annual meeting of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) from November 25th-30th, 2012 in Chicago, IL, USA. In addition to the wide range of products for quality assurance of diagnostic X-ray and real-time personal dose monitoring solutions, the company now offers a new Software Solution "RaySafe S1 Dose Management" to also cover the increased demand on patient dose management. Through this expansion Unfors RaySafe is the only supplier worldwide to offer comprehensive solutions for the X-ray room – from quality assurance of X-ray equipment, to real-time dose monitoring for medical staff and dose management solutions for the benefit of the patient.

After introducing the real-time dose monitoring system "RaySafe i2" early this year, Unfors RaySafe now launches the RaySafe S1, a cloud-based software that enables medical staff to manage and lower patient dose. "When it comes to the control of radiation there are three important factors to be considered: quality assurance for X-ray equipment, minimization of radiation exposure of medical staff and dose management in order to protect patients. We are now the only company able to provide clinics and hospitals with effective solutions in all of these key areas", says CEO Magnus Kristoferson. Unfors RaySafe’s strategy focuses on raising awareness of unnecessary radiation exposure among the different target groups and enables working according to the radiation safety principles of ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable).

RaySafe S1: Justification, Optimization, Control

The new RaySafe S1 is a cloud-based software that helps to reduce patients’ radiation exposure to a minimum while ensuring the quality of radiological images. By providing hospitals and radiology centers with the ability to capture patient dose during radiology procedures, the RaySafe S1 enables practitioners to better control and reduce the number of unnecessary exams, lower patient dose, improve process quality and monitor patient safety. As a result, radiation exposure for patients is effectively reduced and optimized while medical personnel works more efficiently, adding to the overall productivity, resulting in considerable cost-savings.

Unfors Instruments has changed its name to Unfors RaySafe.

Unfors RaySafe introduces RaySafe i2 personal dosimetry system

Göteborg

2012-03-01

PRESS RELEASE

Unfors RaySafe introduces RaySafe i2 personal dosimetry system

RaySafe i2 active dosimeter gives medical staff real-time insight about their individual radiation exposure

During the European Congress of Radiology in Vienna 2012 Unfors RaySafe launched the RaySafe i2. By using RaySafe i2 during imaging procedures, medical personnel are able to get instant information on their current exposure to X-ray, giving them prerequisites to adjust their behavior to minimize unnecessary exposure. Unfors RaySafe is the world’s only manufacturer of real-time personal dosimetry systems.

Studies presented at ECR and RSNA indicate a reduction in dose to personnel up to 40% by using Unfors RaySafe’s real-time dosimetry technology. Workplace efficiency and safety can be improved, and work processes streamlined, by facilitating the time-stamped, dose data collected by RaySafe i2.

"RaySafe i2 is proven to reduce staff dose, and makes it easy to work correctly and achieve a well-functioning radiation safety culture in hospitals" says Magnus Kristoferson, CEO of Unfors RaySafe.

The basic package comes with one real time display, 4 dosimeters, and can be extended with additional dosimeters and advanced data management software.

Unfors RaySafe, previously Unfors Instruments, also introduced its new name and canary logo at ECR.

"Like the canary in the coal mine helped miners avoid dangerous gases, the RaySafe solutions, now and in the future, will enable users to help themselves and others avoid unnecessary radiation. The RaySafe brand will better represent our mission and company as we continue to expand our solution portfolio", says Magnus Kristoferson.

RaySafe i2 for personal dosimetry now available in Australia and Singapore

PRESS RELEASE

Singapore, 17. September 2012

Unfors RaySafe: worldwide lack of awareness about unnecessary radiation

RaySafe i2 for personal dosimetry now available in Australia and Singapore

According to Unfors RaySafe, medical staff in hospitals and clinics around the world is not yet sensitised enough to the risks of unnecessary radiation. The company is the world’s leading supplier of radiation measurement solutions and has now presented its product innovation “RaySafe i2” in Australia and Singapore. RaySafe i2 is an active dosimeter especially for interventional radiology that gives real time insight into radiation exposure. With the help of the dosimetry system, medical staff can immediately adjust their behavioural routines and improve the radiation safety culture in their workplaces. Since the beginning of this year, RaySafe i2 has already been available in several European countries and in North America.

“RaySafe i2 has already attracted a lot of interest in Australia and Singapore”, says Bart Leclou. “Real time measurement and analysis are the most important arguments for the professional public.” The personal dosimeters are easy to handle, they are maintenance free and can simply be attached to the work clothes. The collected data is sent wireless to the “i2 real time display” that is placed in the examination room, so that all staff members can see their current exposure. Coloured bar charts give an overview of individual dose, making it easy to allocate data to single users. The integrated software not only analyses but also gives access to time stamped dose data. As a result, hospital staff can change their behaviour immediately in order to minimize their radiation exposure. All data is also available to hospital management for further analysis.

Studies presented during the RSNA and ECR last year have shown that staff dose can be reduced significantly by using such measuring systems. They are already an integral part at renowned hospitals like the Charité in Berlin, Germany. RaySafe i2, which has been approved in most European countries as well as in the United States and Canada, can be purchased directly from Unfors RaySafe or the major x-ray manufacturers. Following the product launch in Australia and Singapore, Unfors RaySafe will soon introduce RaySafe i2 in other Asian markets and also plans activities to further raise awareness of unnecessary radiation exposure.
