The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is engaged to inform about the safe use of ioning radiation in medicine and to increase radiation protection of patients.
In order to make progress in patient safety as a whole, an International Action Plan on the Radiological Protection of Patients was developed and approved by the Agency's governing bodies in 2002.
